Be Still and…

In the midst of everything that is occurring can you sit in the stillness of Jesus. Changes coming from the east, south, north and west; can you be still? Fighting with health issues; can you be still? Fighting for your mind; can you be still? Fighting the past situations; can you be still?

I believe there are two key words in this and yet words that you will never find together – Fighting and Stillness. Many times these words are on the opposite playing fields but today I would like to challenge you to marry these words together. Stay with me.

Fighting – some of us know this word all too well so the question for you is, how are you fighting? With spiritual weapons or with carnal weapons? Are we allowing our situations to get the best of us? Are we boxing in mid-air and only exhausting our arms, when all God has called you to do was lift our hands to the heavens just like Moses did and win the battle. I believe that many times we fall into this scenario. We find ourselves fighting something that is not fought with carnal ways or mindsets. We find ourselves exhausted and ready to give up. All Jesus is asking of us is to fight with Wisdom. Fight with Understanding, Fight with Knowledge. Utilize these weapons to help guide the next decisions in your life. Fight with Perseverance understanding that the race is not over!

“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.”
– 1 Timothy 6:12

The biggest lie of the enemy is to advise you that is okay to give up. Give up on the situation. Give up on your mental stability. Give up on your ministry. Give up on your spouse. Give up on your dreams. Give up on your life. Fighting means you don’t give up. Fighting means you don’t quit. A wise fighter just retrains themselves on how to fight the right way! Start training!

Once you learn this then being Still in His presence is simple.

“Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted
throughout the whole earth.”
– Psalm 46:10

Being still and letting God take over, as much as the world seems like it is falling apart is a piece of delicious cake! I emphasize the word delicious because I have had bad cake. LOL! But when you savor and know what a delicious cake taste like – it is something you aspire to get over and over again. You don’t settle for mediocracy. In this life stop settling for mediocracy. In the stillness of God there is fullness! not a dull & dry cake!

The only reason this becomes easy is because you finally figured it out – you are not God. It’s not by your strength. You don’t govern what God wants to do. You are trusting that God hears your prayers, you are trusting that God knows your heart, you are trusting that the decisions that you make will be made in prayer first, consulting with your Daddy!  You are trusting that he holds the world in HIS hands.  You are trusting that what He permits and doesn’t permit is for your benefit. You are trusting that through your pain and heartache – He is God and He will make a way. You are trusting that He will bring a breath of fresh air to your situation.

I needed to be reminded of that Sunday evening. Through all the things that I am juggling: ministry, children, my household, another 2 households, my job, phone calls that I receive, news that I hear, sickness that tries to inhabit my body, my mental mindset, this being the worst month for me…I was about to go crazy and say enough! But a good friend listened to the Lord and spoke a word over me: Psalm 46:10 “Be Still know that I am God. God took the time to send me a word and for that I am forever grateful. He took the time to say “new” is coming, just be still! Don’t make any rash decisions, don’t give up… just be still! Faithful I call you!
