-The Lioness Still Roars
When I hear about the word Tribe, I get excited and feel honored. Being a part of a tribe means linking up with folks that are distinctively linked, whether it be by blood, friendship, religion, etc.
I have been able to reflect back and think about the people in my life that have brought me to this place. This place of continued healing. The tribe that I roll with is not only inclusive of my children but it also encompasses my family members, HEIM church and specific covenant brothers and sisters.
When you start to align your tribe in life, you need to make sure that who you are running with will edify you and will bring you further in this journey called life. You should be able to learn from each other and remember that this is a 2-way street. If this is not the case sit back and start reflecting, who is in your tribe and are you really committed to rolling with them?
I was working out at the gym the other day and the W.O.D was a partner workout, but we were not even that day. So the coach advised me to do the routine by myself. I was completely comfortable with that. My life has been one lately that I have learned a lot more independence so I as I just mentioned I was just fine. As we did round one, the group in the next station asked me “Pastor are you doing this alone?” I said “yep, I am cool”. And then I made a statement that I thought about. I said “I am used to being alone so it doesn’t matter.” After I made that statement I thought about it. Am I really? No I am not and I am not alone and there is moments when you have to do things alone but we are not meant to live this life alone. The next round of the workout the team said come and work out with us, we may not be an even number but it doesn’t matter. We are better as a team!” Wow. I really needed to understand that. I am better as a team. I am better with my tribe. When I was working out with the guys, they kept pushing me to keep going and push past the pain.
The tribe that you run with will help you push past the pain. They will be the ones in the corner month after month, week after week and year after year saying YOU CAN DO THIS.
I think about the tribe of Judah. I can relate to this tribe so well. The tribe of Judah was one of the 12 tribes.
In speaking of the tribe of Judah, Jacob said, “Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s children shall bow down before you. Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people”
(Genesis 49:8-10).
God saw that warrior within Judah and his linage. Even when HE didn’t see it. And EVEN when others around you don’t see it God still makes it possible to make miracles out of turmoil.
Out of his linage came King David and most importantly out of this linages also came… JESUS!
The tribe of Judah is a tribe of worship. It is a tribe that understands their calling and authority in the Kingdom of God.
This is the tribe that I run with. This is the pride that I roar with, the pride that is not willing to surrender or make excuses. I don’t make excuses; I make it happen.
Have you found the group of people that can run with you till the end? The group of people that truly has your back? Have you found the group of people that know how to wash you with the word, they know how to guard you with prayer and intercession, the group of people that can sense danger as it lurks in the darkness?
God wants you to surround yourself with people that will edify your life and that will sharpen you!
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
You need to align yourself with people that will edify you and build you up versus keep you stagnant or bring you down.
Ask yourself:
Prayer: Lord give me discernment in order to align me with the right tribe. I want to find a group that understands the calling in my life and help take me deeper. I need individuals that are willing to lead me to greatness and not guilt. I thank you Jesus for aligning my heart and aligning me to my tribe! Amen.
